In an effort to protect native wildlife from introduced predators, fox baiting has commenced in several Northern Beaches reserves. The reserves, including Manly Dam, Manly Vale, Allenby Park, Allambie Heights, Forestville Park, Forestville, Middle Creek Reserve, Oxford Falls, and Dee Why Lagoon Wildlife Refuge, will have fox-specific poison baits laid until May 12.

Introduced species, such as foxes, pose a significant threat to Australia’s unique native wildlife, which includes marsupials like  bilbies, koalas, wombats, and wallabies, as well as ground-dwelling birds, snakes, and reptiles.

The fox baiting program is being conducted in partnership with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, utilizing “Foxoff® Econobait” poison baits specifically designed for fox control.

To ensure the safety of pets and people, the reserves will be closed to dogs until 9June , and dog and cat owners are advised to keep their pets away from these areas. Warning signs are displayed throughout the reserves to inform visitors of the ongoing fox baiting program.
