Every year, local citizens that make the difference to the North Shore are recognised and celebrated for their altruistic efforts by receiving the North Sydney Community Awards. This year, the ceremony was held on the 24 February 2023, and the winners were announced in the following categories:

Community Builder Award: Janice Hui and Linda Bisnette were the joint winners of this award for their work in helping skilled migrants gain employment.

Eco Warrior Award: the award went to both Anne Pickles and Ruth Mitchell for their work with Wildlife Watch.

Next Generation Award: this year had four winners. Patrick Boland, for helping rehabilitate local bushland through the North Sydney Bushcare Program since 2019. Loreto Kirribilli students Imogen Wills, Lauren Moloney and Olivia Menzies were the other three winners for  helping to set up Environmental Sustainability Framework for their school.

Living Legend Award: this year, 29 joint winners received the award. They were all volunteers with the North Sydney Bushcare Program and each have contributed 20 or more years of service: Andy Craig, Anita Semler, Ann Lyons, Bud Coffey, Dick Gall, Eddie Tsui, Frennie Beytagh, Hilary Walker, Ian Clarke, Jan Thomas, John Brewer, Joyce Meyer, Kim Shepherd, Lynne Cook, Margaret O’Brien, Margaret Ryan, Mart Vesk, Michael Young, Nancy Heywood, Penelope Blau, Penelope Erikson, Rosslyn Young, Sissi Stewart and Victoria Whitney.

It went also to Donald Melrose, George Barbouttis, Heather Robson, Mary Lyn Lawrence and Nicole Bannister, for been serving the community for 30 years.
