NSW Government committed $11 million to transform the North Sydney Oval if re-elected in March, investment that seeks to upgrade the popular sportsground to be converted into a premier sports venue.

Member for Willoughby Tim James said improvements to playing surfaces, seatings, food and beverage outlets, toilet amenities and player and officials’ rooms would take North Sydney Oval to the next level.

“This upgrade will help support the growth of women’s sport in NSW and make it easier for fans to catch our best sporting talent, both in comfort and style,” Mr James said.

Minister for Sport Alister Henskens said investing in grassroots sport has a great impact in engaging the rising number of female players in local communities.

“North Sydney Oval has hosted some of cricket’s most important and memorable moments, including the inaugural day-night women’s Ashes Test in 2017 where Ellyse Perry’s scored an incredible double ton,” said Mr Henskens.
