Northern Beaches Community Cancer Charity (NBCCC) has delivered an important milestone to the community, as residents can now access cancer treatments closer to home.
Following a cancer clinic trial at Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH), NBCCC pulled together enough funds to purchase medical equipment for the hospital’s oncology and infusion unit as well as employment of a registered nurse position.
According to NBCCC, in order for cancer clinic trials to proceed, it is understood both the equipment and the RN position were a prerequisite.
While NBCCC say there is still more funding to be raised for other support services, Northern Beaches residents who are eligible for cutting-edge treatment will no longer need to travel to hospitals out of the area.
As NBCCC continue to raise funds for Northern Beaches residents, a final fundraising activity for 2022, Comedy for a Cause will take place at Manly on Friday 4 November.
